8/17/09 - Mona has been adopted

7/26/09 - Although Mona continues to do well with myself and others she has started to become aggressive with the other dogs in our home.  If another dog happens to try to take a toy, look at her the wrong way or give her a slight growl she will become aggressive.  Due to this I have taken to crating her most of the time and only allow her out when all the other dogs are put up.
She will be an awesome dog for a one dog family that like to jog, hike or is very active...Mona does not deserve the fate she was handed by being put into a shelter..she is young, sweet and very active and loving...please if you are a one dog family consider her for your home.

7/5/09 - Mona spent the weekend with 3 friends (4 legged) visiting from LI and had a blast.  They went hiking in the woods with us and I have to tell you Mona just ran and ran..I was laughing so hard a t...she was running and leaping over everything there was ...there were a few large streams but she wasn't into the water so much...if I could have gone in I think she would have followed me but it was too cold...we settled on a large fallen tree and Mona walked up and down it balancing herself like a little would swear she was showing off.  I have to tell you she is one amazing dog..there isn't anything she can't do..anyone looking for a dog to do agility or to go for long walks or hiking please consider will not be sorry...I just can not say enough about her beauty and personality...she is here and waiting...we do feel she may have a little american Staffordshire in her, but over all is a heinz 57 dog...lots of everything.

6/20/09 - Mona continues to do well in her foster home...we have been going on mile long walks and she is wonderful on the leash, no pulling, doesn't try to go after other dogs, nothing seems to distract her from her walk..

6/17/09 - Mona has been here for about 5 days now and I have to tell you she really is an amazing dog!...if you are looking for a young energetic dog to go running, hiking, doing agility or just a playmate this is certainly the dog for you...she needs a home with an active family for sure.  She is so super sweet and great with the other 10 dogs in the home, she is getting better with her house trianing so with time she will be perfect.  She will definitely need obediance trianing as well...she is a strong girl but super smart as well picking up on commands quickly.

6/13/09 - Hi my name is Mona and I am 1 yr old! A few months ago the people I was living with left me behind when they got kicked out of their apartment, and they didn't leave me any food or water!! I was so scared and lonely! I couldn't understand why they did that to me I was always so nice to them! I always gave them kisses and was so happy to see them when they came home - my tail never stopped wagging. I snuggled with them and listened and did everything they said. I even learned to sit, stay, lay down and give them my paw. But I guess it wasn't enough. Somebody finally came to get me but they brought me to this awful place filled with cages and all these other dogs were crying and barking. I was so scared. I kept seeing all these other dogs being dragged off and I never saw them again after that. I never did find out what happened to them but I know they were scared to because they were shaking. Somebody really nice came and saved me to find me a home. So I am hoping that maybe you can open your heart to me. I promise I'll be real good. I swear you won't regret it. I will be the best friend you ever had. Can you love me? I KNOW I can LOVE you!!! Mona is a sweet Boxer mix. She is spayed and up to date on all her shots. She needs some work on her housetraining, is friendly, walks easy on a leash and is very pleasing. She gets along well with other dogs and cats. She would be a wonderful addition to a loving home!
